Wedding interrupted after bride discovers she's allergic to cake

There’s good news for the pair of New Jersey newlyweds whose dream wedding ended in tears after the bride had an allergic reaction to the wedding cake, leaving her temporarily hospitalized -- they’re about to get a free do-over.

Bride Victoria Tumolo was dancing the night away at her reception back in September when she she noticed a change in her breathing patterns. Luckily, Tumolo’s career as a nurse meant that she was prepared for such a situation, and she quickly realized what was happening.

“You need to get my parents,” she told the guests. “I think I have to go to the hospital.”

The next thing she knew, her father was administering an EpiPen through her wedding dress, according to the Courier-Post.

“I had to take my dress off outside so they wouldn’t cut it off me when we got to the hospital,” Victoria Tumolo said, adding that her new husband, Dominic Tumolo, and her mother removed her dress together.

“I didn’t really panic,” groom Dominic told WTXF. “I just wanted to make sure the ambulance got there and got everyone settled and then go to the hospital.”

“I wanted everyone to stay and have a good time,” Victoria said. “There was a lot of confusion, and some people knew what was going on.”

Victoria later discovered that she was allergic to milk and almonds, but the symptoms of her allergy only appear after strenuous physical activity -- like dancing.

Luckily, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the not-so-happy couple. Their caterer, Jim Auletto, teamed up with the owner of the company that provided the entertainment for the reception to offer them a complimentary do-over -- a free second reception.

“This is driving me crazy; she didn’t get to cut her cake” Auletto told WTXF. “It never happened before, so we have to do something.”

So Auletto emailed the couple and asked them if they’d be interested in a second reception, at no charge.

“(Victoria) just started crying because she was so happy,” Dominic said. “We called her parents to let them know the good news.”

Hair and make-up professionals have also volunteered to help the bride out at no cost, and the wedding photographer has also offered their services free of charge.

The couple is excited to finally cut their wedding cake together, but Dominic admitted that, at this point, they have a few unorthodox ideas regarding the tradition.

“I’m thinking of cutting that cake and smashing it in her face,” he joked. “We’ve been trash talking like that for a while.”

Man, wife and sister: A heartwarming union

This one is a keeper.

Earlier this year, Will Seaton showed there are still many good guys out there. When Seaton decided it was finally time to pop the question to Ashley Schaus, there was one person he had to ask a very important question. No, not her father, but rather her sister Hannah.

Seaton asked Hanna to be his “best friend forever.”

Hanna has Down’s syndrome and diabetes, and when Seaton and Schaus started dating, Hanna was part of the deal, the couple told ABC News in June.

The couple got married on Oct. 7 and Hanna was there in a special role.

Wearing a white dress of her own, Hanna was a bridesmaid, but she was also dubbed the “Best Sister.”

Hanna also exchanged “best friend vows” with Will, WXIN reported.

“I promise to tell funny jokes. I promise to care for you. Thank you for being in my life,” Hanna told Will.

They also had a first dance together, to the Michael Bublè version of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” WXIN reported.

Kevin Bowes, a deputy at the Palmdale station, and his coworkers pulled his girlfriend over, saying that they were doing the traffic stop for a driving under the influence test. The video was posted on the department’s Facebook page, where it has had more than 238,000 views in two days.

They are high school sweethearts who got married on their 6-year dating anniversary.

Baerman said in a Facebook post that Taco Bell was the couple's go-to spot after class in high school.

Skylain told Baerman that they would always scrape together all the quarters Jeffrey had in his car to go eat together after class at Westside High School.

"So what better place to end their wedding day than Taco Bell?" Baerman said on Facebook. "When they told me they were doing this, I immediately invited myself along for the adventure."

Baerman took several photos of the couple inside the Taco Bell near The Avenues, including one with a Hot sauce packet that says "I do."

"They are such a sweet, fun-loving couple and this was the icing on the cake that day," Baerman said.

Woman marries self, has 'fairytale' wedding without prince

A woman gave herself the wedding of her dreams with a big white gown, flowers and a three-layer cake. All that was missing was one traditional aspect: a partner.

Laura Mesi, a 40-year-old fitness trainer from Italy, married herself and became the first woman in Italy to do so, according to the BBC

>> Woman gets a ‘cheesy’ dream wedding at Taco Bell

“I firmly believe that each of us must first of all love ourselves,” Mesi, who spent her honeymoon in Egypt, told The Telegraph. “You can have a fairytale even without the prince.”

While the ceremony has no legal weight, it carries a lot of significance to those who have a self-marriage, which is also known as “sologamy.” Sologamists are fighting the stigma that one needs to be married in order to live a complete and happy life, according to Cosmopolitan

“We’re set up as a culture to treat marriage as the most exciting thing you’ll ever do in your life,” Rebecca Traister, author of “All the Single Ladies: Unmarried Women and the Rise of an Independent Nation,” told Cosmopolitan. “But if you marry yourself, you can say, ‘My life is just as meaningful as the life of the person who happens to be getting married.’”

>> What is a ‘sologamist’ and why are people doing it?

Mesi might agree.

“Everyone celebrates getting together with someone and becoming married, but there’s no milestone in society that celebrates escaping something awful or returning to your own happiness and contentment,” she told the Telegraph.

Engaged couple seeking sponsorships to pay for dream wedding

Planning the perfect wedding is serious business for Jason Mielke and his fiancée, Rebecca Winter Hansen.

That's why the Canadian groom and bride-to-be are looking for sponsors to fund their Nov. 25 wedding.

According to the Moose Jaw Times Herald, Mielke lost his job in January, shortly after he asked Hansen to marry him.

Eloping or getting married at the courthouse isn't an option for the Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, couple, Mielke said. He also didn't want to ask family members for money, so he decided to seek sponsors for their special day.

"I've always been good at marketing, forming relationships in the community, sponsorship, stuff like that," he told the Times Herald. "I thought maybe I could do something here."

>> See their wedding website here

According to the CBC, Mielke and Hansen are "asking individual community members to donate money in return for a seat at their winter wedding reception." They're also hoping companies will pay for a red carpet, spa services, a gluten-free wedding cake and other items.

But Mielke and Hansen have some lines they won't cross.

"I Googled some pictures, and some brides have the logos of the companies on their dress, and I don't know if we're going that far," Mielke told the Times Herald.

Hansen said contributing to the couple's happy moment would lead to a "long-lasting and double-fold reciprocal return," the CBC reported.

"The power of giving always moves everyone toward greatness and making the impossible possible," she told the CBC.
