Transnational America
AMS 302
Instructor: Oana Godeanu-Kenworthy
As the quintessential country of immigrants, the United States has always been shaped by sociocultural, economic, and political forces outside of its geopolitical borders. Contemporary globalization is intensifying those influences.
The exhibition ???Transnational America???, currently on display in MacMillan Hall, showcases the work of Miami students enrolled in AMS 302.
Their collages offer commentaries on the transformations that American identity is undergoing in the global age, from new versions of American exceptionalism, to a rooted cosmopolitanism that views the local and the global as two interrelated dimensions of ???home.???
