The Oxford Kinetics Festival is a day of outrageous family fun and creativity. The main event is "The Scramble", a non-race of human-powered contraptions that takes place over the course of a half hour. Participants ride whatever they have made for the event to different stations along the course where they must dismount and perform certain tasks or challenges before proceeding to the next of the five stations. Trophies are awarded in a number of categories that change from year to year. Throughout the day there are a large number of children's activities available for kid's to play, create, and learn about kinetics. There is a kinetics art exhibit as well as large Rube Goldberg-inspired set-ups that are deployed every half hour. There is music, performance and food. This is an event unlike any other and a fabulous time for all.
Leading up to the festival there are building workshops offered at Miami University's sculpture department on Saturday afternoons for interested individuals. Come be a part of the day, build something to race, bring something to share, or get ideas for what you want to make next year. If you would like to be involved with your K-12 or college level class please contact us through the website for participation information. Everyone is always welcome. FREE
