Free Spirits: From the Mountain Top to the Jazz Hall
Black history celebrated with the words of Martin Luther King Jr. and the music of Mary Lou Williams. Dayton’s own dancers and musicians will bring to life a vision for peace with a rich collaboration between schools, church and neighborhoods. Mary Lou Williams, a contemporary of Duke Ellington, was an extraordinary jazz pianist and composer. Transformed mid-life by a spiritual awakening, her music lends the perfect score for dance that illustrates the true freedom of justice.
