Classical music and steel drums seem an odd combination to you? Think again! The Miami University Steel Band is preparing a stunning series for April that will feature an all-classical music program. Music from Bach, Vivaldi and Chopin will be featured, and special guest soloists will join the ensemble, combining their superb talents and sounds with that of the Steel Band. Everything is on the table, from chamber music to orchestral transcriptions to operatic arias. A special highlight for the evening will be an appearance by lyric tenor Marco Panuccio, a local artist who is developing an impressive international profile. Don't miss this extraordinary event: Friday, April 5, 2013 at 7:30 P.M.
The ensemble will present a second concert featuring traditional Caribbean and Latin American fare. The MU Steel Band has developed a tradition over nearly twenty years of presenting high-energy, top-notch performances, and this year will be no different. Saturday's concert will include original compositions for steel band by director Chris Tanner and other top names in the field.
Come and see both shows to get a taste of both high art and downright delicious grooves! Tickets available through the MU Box Office.
