With a brand new lineup of guitars and a fresh new collection of original songs, The Bitteroots are continuing to make their presence felt on the Atlanta music scene with their unique vocal power and carefully crafted blues- and jam-influenced rock songs. The Bitteroots are following up their sophomore release, "Central of Georgia," with a seven song EP released in May 2013 entitled "After the Rain."The Decatur-based band celebrated its fifth birthday this year with a capacity-filled show at Eddie's Attic that also served as the release party for "After the Rain," a collection of songs that showcases some of the more aggressive sides of The Bitteroots.
The band features the ripping vocals of Laura Dees, the thumping, funky bass grooves of Bill Taylor, Mike Davis' in-the-pocket drumming and a new combination of guitars by Ted Baumann and Kyle Bryant that is at the same time classic and adventurous.
With a knack for hook-laden grooves, driving rhythms and soaring melodies, The Bitteroots are influenced by a mix of blues, folk, jam and classic rock that produces a unique musical blend that keeps getting better with time.
As The Bitteroots continue to support the release of "After the Rain," the band will be performing a string of shows at marquee venues across the Atlanta area, including Vinyl at Center Stage, the Red Light Café, the club formerly known as the Five Spot, Eddie's Attic and the incredible Red Clay Theater.
The Bitteroots also maintain a regular presence on the Decatur and Atlanta festival scenes, having started out this year with a slot on the main stage at the SweetWater 420 Fest, a weekend that included performances by the likes of Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Black Joe Lewis & The Honey Bears, Anders Osborne, and the legendary George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic.
The Bitteroots will cap off 2013 with another of the band's legendary year-end shows at Eddie Owen's Red Clay Theater in Duluth, but there are many more chances to see the band, and its new guitarists, live before December.
The Bitteroots have shared the stage with the following artists: The Freddy Jones Band, Arrested Development, 7 Walkers (Bill Kreutzmann of The Grateful Dead), George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Anders Osborne, Coy Bowles (Zac Brown Band), Dead Confederate, Cigar Store Indians, The Sundogs, The Shadowboxers, The District Attorneys, Lindsay Rakers Band, Nathan Beaver, Mike Killeen, Trees On Fire, Saint Francis, The Longshot Saints, Matthew Kahler, honey honey, and many other great bands.
