Oxford Community Arts Center (OCAC) presents, New York cabaret performer and musical theater actress, Nicole Johndrow's one-woman show Mixtape Confessions: The Diary of a Teenage Optimist Friday, January 31st and Saturday February 1st at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15 at the door, or may be purchased online ($15.00 +$1.54 processing) at oxarts.bpt.me. The Oxford Community Arts Center will have a cash bar available before and after the show. Proceeds from this show will benefit OCAC. Nicole will be accompanied by musical director and co-writer, Warren Freeman.
When Nicole Johndrow rediscovered her audiotape diary from the late 1980's, she knew her teenage entries were too good to keep to herself. Inspired by 13-year old Nicole's candid point of view, and by the music she might have been listening to in her room at the time, Mixtape Confessions will make you relive all of your embarrassing moments from junior high, set to the best pop hits from those awkward school dances.
Johndrow will perform "Mixtape Confessions" as well as an eclectic selection of songs featuring standards, top 40 hits, and fresh material from Broadway's up-and-coming composers. Johndrow aims to help audiences rediscover timeless beloved songs, and introduces them to new favorites.
Ms. Johndrow made her solo New York cabaret debut with Mixtape Confessions: The Diary of a Teenage Optimist. She was last seen on the Birdland stage premiering several new songs for the composer Scott Evan Davis, one of which was written specifically for her cabaret two years ago at the Village Life Arts Series in Warwick, New York, where she is a recurring guest. For two years Nicole was a featured performer at the Nancy LaMott Room at the Bradstan Country Hotel in White Lake, New York. Theatrical credits include the National Tour of Cats (Jellylorum/Grizabella), The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas at the Ogunquit Playhouse opposite Sally Struthers, and the off-Broadway musical revue Back In Pictures. Nicole is a proud native of Lowville, New York, and a current resident of Oxford, Ohio, where she is an adjunct professor in the Miami University Department of Theatre.
