Former News Center 7 anchor Ken Jefferson has died this weekend after a brief illness, according to WVIR-TV, the most recent news station where he worked in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Jefferson was an award-winning anchor and reporter at WHIO-TV for 25 years. He left the Gem City in 2002 to explore new career opportunities in Florida.

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Jefferson was 65 years old.
