A head-on collision Tuesday on Indiana 227 killed a Richmond man and sent a woman to the hospital.
David Bane, 54, was killed in the crash which happened at approximately 2:15 p.m. about a half-mile southeast of the split between U.S. 27 and Indiana 227, according to Wayne County Sheriff Jeff Cappa.
Genny Cox, of Boston, Ind., was taken to Reid Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life threatening.
Cappa said witnesses and preliminary investigation indicates Bane's vehicle crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck the sport utility vehicle driven by Cox in the 2200 block of Boston Pike (Indiana 227).
Bane was pronounced dead at the scene.
The condition on Cox, who was extricated from the SUV, was not available.
Authorities temporarily closed the roadway for the investigation and cleanup.
