Baseball icon Yogi Berra dead at 90

Baseball icon Yogi Berra has died, The Associated Press reported early Wednesday. He was 90.

According to the AP, the New York Yankees Hall of Fame catcher died of "natural causes" Tuesday in New Jersey.

"It is with a profound sense of loss and heartfelt sorrow that the Board of Directors of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center shares the news that Yogi Berra has passed away," the museum wrote on its Facebook page. "Yogi conducted his life with unwavering integrity, humility and a contagious good humor that elevated him from baseball legend to beloved national icon."

Berra, who played for the Yankees from 1949-1965, won 10 World Series championships with the team. He was named American League MVP three times.

But Berra was much more than an athlete; his quotes turned him into a pop-culture icon. Some of the most popular: "It ain't over till it's over," "it's déjà vu all over again" and "I usually take a two-hour nap from 1 to 4."
