Then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, in 2015. Trump posted a video to Twitter Sunday that appears to endorse violence against journalists.
President Donald Trump posted a fantasy video from his @realdonaldtrump Twitter handle Sunday that shows himself “beating” CNN to the ground, in a post that seems to support violence against journalists.
The video clip is from his appearance on WWE’s Wrestlemania 23, which shows him fighting Vince McMahon ringside at the “Battle of the Billionaires.” The clip is digitally mirrored in an attempt to avoid copyright infringement.
Trump has been engaged in an ongoing battle against CNN and other media outlets in general since his presidential campaign and now during his presidency.
Last week, Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump had “in no way, form or fashion has ever encouraged violence, quite the contrary.”
Former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski called Trump the “Ernest Hemingway of Twitter” in a Fox News interview Saturday, in perhaps the most generous invocation of Ernest Hemingway in recorded history.
