Garth Brooks Shows His Appreciation for Hockey

By Nancy Wilson

Garth Brooks was in Music City this week to play a private show, thanking members of the NHL's Nashville Predators for supporting his Teammates for Kids charity.

The hour-long set was exclusively for players, coaches, trainers and their special guests. MusicCityTV reports that every single one of the Predators was in attendance, as written by theboot.com. All of the team's players participate in Brooks' Teammates for Kids, with athletes pledging a donation for everything good they do on the field (or in this case, on the ice). When every athlete on a team signs up, Brooks returns the good deed with a special, private performance. The Predators are the eighth NHL team to have signed up their entire roster.

Dressed in a backward baseball cap, red plaid shirt and jeans, Brooks mixed his own hits with covers of classics from Merle Haggard and George Jones, and talked to the audience about how those artists influenced him. Later, he posed for pictures with the players.

Brooks, who lives in Oklahoma with wife Trisha Yearwood and his three daughters, also revealed that he may be returning to Nashville from time to time. His oldest daughter has expressed an interest in attending Belmont University
