Kenny Chesney is Larger than Life Today

By Nancy Wilson

At long last, it's finally here!   Kenny Chesney:  Summer in 3-D makes its debut in movie theaters today.  This past weekend, the superstar hosted the movie's premiere for family and friends, telling People.com he can't wait to take a break!

Now that his 3D concert movieis hitting theaters, Kenny Chesney has some free time on his hands. How he will spend it, not even he knows - and that's just fine with the country superstar.

"I haven't really got a chance to spend a lot of time with my family," the artist, 42, told PEOPLE at Saturday's Las Vegas premiere of Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D. "I've been gone for 17 years. I'm going to try and write a few songs and see how my boat fits again and kind of going from there."

Where will that boat take him? "I'll probably go somewhere in the Caribbean with it. I don't really know yet."

Joining Chesney for his movie premiere were his parents, as well as friends
Matthew McConaughey, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Morgan Freeman and Faith Hill.

"I can't wait to see him in 3D," McGraw, 42, said. "He's ugly enough in 2D." Then, putting the kidding aside, McGraw added: "No, we're really proud of him. He's been a friend of ours for a long time and he's worked really, really hard."

The movie, having been shot over six nights in five locations during his Sun City Carnival Tour, totally consumed him, Chesney said. "Now that the film is ready to be behind me, I'm going to sit around and just try to get away from being me for a second," he said.

While in Vegas, Chesney also performed at Sunday's ACM Awards at the MGM Grand.  The four time Entertainer of the Year will go home empty handed.  But before he left, he stayed over Monday to take part in the taping of a TV special, "ACM Presents: Brooks and Dunn - The Last Rodeo," which will air May 23 on CBS.
