Lady Antebellum has got it going on lately, with Grammy wins and kicking off their tour as the middle act for Tim McGraw's Southern Voice Tour, which kicked off Wednesday night in Omaha. Vernell Hackett from theboot.com has the latest update on Hillary, Dave and Charles.
Members of Lady Antebellum are gushing with excitement about being on Tim McGraw's Southern Voice tour, which kicks off tonight (Feb. 10) in Omaha, Neb. This is the first time the group has worked a tour as the second act on the bill, after the opening act and just before the headliner. They agree that it is exciting to be in the middle spot, because it gives them more time to perform for their fans. The trio promise a few new songs in their repertoire as they begin to work toward a headlining tour of their own.
"We've been in rehearsals the last few days," Lady A guitarist/pianist Dave Haywood reveals to The Boot. "We're big fans of Tim's, and the The Lost Trailers and Love and Theft, who will be out with us at different times through the tour."
The group is just coming off a five-week No. 1 with 'Need You Now,' and their new album by the same name stands at No. 1 on both the Billboard country albums chart and the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, selling 481,000 units to reach that point. That gives Lady A the biggest debut sales week for any album since Susan Boyle's 'I Dreamed A Dream' topped the same chart with sales of 701,000 last November.
It's another No. 1 feat that singer Charles Kelley is still beaming about -- Luke Bryan's 'Do I,' which he co-wrote with Dave and Luke. Charles tells The Boot, "You know what's really cool is that in our live show we have a moment where we strip it down and we do a couple acoustic songs, and one of them is 'Do I.' That song never fails to get the biggest reaction of anything we do all night, which is a little bittersweet for us."
Charles pauses a moment to reflect, then continues, "It is amazing to see just how truly powerful that song has been and how country fans have gravitated toward it. They sing back every word, and I know it must be ten times that feeling and reaction when Luke does it in his show."
The Southern Voice tour will wander across the U.S. and into Canada for 60 dates, ending August 7 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Among the cities it will visit are Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, Little Rock, Seattle, Oklahoma City and Salt Lake City. The Lost Trailers will open shows through April 10th; Love And Theft will open from April 11 - August 7.
