Bret Michaels' Bouncing Back with Fighting Spirit

By Nancy Wilson

Rock star/country wannabe/reality fave Bret Michaels is one tough cookie!   The 47-year old singer has been battling numerous illnesses of late, most notably a brain hemorrhage that could have been disastrous, but now doctors say Michael's desire to live is stronger than that!   Wouldn't be surprised to see him appear as scheduled at JD Legends in August!  More from New York Daily News' Soraya Roberts.

Bret Michaels expected to make full recovery

thanks to 'will to live,' says singer's doctor

Bret Michaels' "will to live" may have saved his life.

The Poison front man will most likely make a full recovery, according to his doctor, and it's all thanks to the 47-year-old's "undeniable" will to overcome the brain hemorrhage he suffered last week.

"He has an unbelievable fight in him and told me what kept him alive at the moment of the hemorrhage was that he "did not want his family to wake up and see him lying unconscious in the middle of the floor," ' Dr. Joseph Zabramski said in a statement released Friday by Michaels' publicist.

"It was a combination of Bret's fight to stay conscious during the hemorrhage and get to the emergency room, and the immediate medical attention provided by our staff at Barrow that enabled us to stabilize his condition."

The chief of cerebrovascular surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., Zabramski has been treating Michaels' subarachnoid hemmorhage since he entered the hospital April 22.

Zabramski says that his team will continue testing the "Celebrity Apprentice" star after hitting some "roadblocks." These include hyponatremia, cranial and back pain from blood drainage, Michael's appendectomy on April 12 and the reality star's history of Type 1 diabetes.

Michaels' neurological team will hold a press conference at noon Tuesday to discuss his prognosis in more detail.

The rocker's medical team had previously stated that Michaels could start touring as early as May and that he may appear on the live finale of "Celebrity Apprentice" on May 23.
