TMZ is reporting that Rodney Atkins has filed for divorce from his wife Tammy, after he was arrested last month at their home in Tennessee for allegedly trying to smother her with a pillow. TMZ has discovered the divorce filing is a result of Rodney insisting Tammy made up the whole thing. Court documents say the two had been arguing all day when Tammy claims Rodney tried to smother her. She told police he then grabbed her by the face and threw her down the hallway and "had been drinking alcohol all night and was intoxicated." All of this she claims allegedly happened in front of their 10 year old son. Read more here. Rodney was released on bond. In a statement released to TMZ, Rodney's lawyer says, "Mr. Atkins realized he would have no recourse but to file a complaint for divorce. He has exercised substantial parenting time with the parties son and he will continue to do so while the divorce is pending."
