Bret Michaels is breathing easier today after successful heart surgery yesterday! The country rocker was in a Phoenix hospital to close up a hole in his ticker.

Bret Michaels, 2008
GMA News says here's how they did it....doctors inserted a catheter into a vein in his groin with a closure device. Tiny cameras helped doctors as they operated to close the hole. Bret's going to have that closure device in his heart for the rest of his life. It's to stop abnormal blood flow between two chambers of his heart. That blood flow is thought to be the reason he had that warning stroke. Read more here. Doctors discovered the hole in Michaels' heart in April when he was being treated for a brain hemorrhage. Bret says he's "95%" recovered from that. Every rose has its thorn indeed, but Bret's still around to smell them!
