Will the Next American Idol be Country?

By Nancy Wilson

Did you catch American Idol last night in Music City??  Over 17,000 people auditioned in Nashville for a chance to be the new Carrie Underwood

And Season 10 judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson think they may have found her in 15-year old high school student Lauren Alaina from Georgia.  Check out her version of Faith Hill's "Like We Never Loved At All."

Lauren talked about her cousin Holly, diagnosed with a brain tumor three years ago.  She's undergone radiation and chemo treatments. Lauren organized a fundraiser for her cousin and sang at the fundraiser.  After she sang Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" Steven said, "I think we found The One today. We found her. Oh yeah, we did."   Randy said, "I'm telling you, I'm blown away... You've got real natural God-given talent."  When Lauren started to cry, Steven said "I think you should cry, because you're gonna make 40 million people cry," the Aerosmith rocker said. "Tears of joy, baby."   Still a ways to go before the May finale, but Lauren is one to watch, along with Scotty McCreery from Milwaukee Wednesday night.  More auditions to come in Austin, LA and San Francisco.
