The latest actor to turn to country music? Dwayne Johnson, better known as the "Rock" will star and produce a movie about the life of Charley Pride. Terrence Howard was once attached to the project, but had to pull out because of conflicts. Charley tells the Telegraph Journal of New Brunswick, "Terrence is no doubt a more in-depth actor academically, but Dwayne is such a force on screen. It startled me a little at first, but he flew down to Dallas and spent a day with me just sitting, talking recently. And when he left it was like parting with an old friend." Read more here. Charley Pride is one of 11 children born to Mississippi sharecroppers. He has more than three dozen number one hits, sold over 70 million records, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000. He is also the only black member of the Grand Ole Opry. Before his singing career took off, Charley was a baseball player and served in the military.
