Dick Clark was a man that defined music.  No matter what type you like, you probably think of the man known as "America's oldest teenager" with fondness.  American Bandstand, Pyramid,New Year's Rockin' Eve...his wonderful voice and thousand watt smile has been silenced with his death at the age of 82 from a massive heart attack.   Longtime friend Kenny Rogers issued a statement on his website.    "I'm one of the lucky people who can say that I knew Dick Clark personally. Dick produced almost every awards show I was on during the 80's, and he constantly encouraged me toward success. He will be missed by everyone – especially by those who knew him well."

Taste of Country has compiled some Twitter postings from artists who shared their thoughts.   Charlie Daniels(@charliedaniels):   "The CDB regrets the loss of our friend Dick Clark who we had the honor of working with many times. Nobody did TV like Dick. Rest In Peace."  Jay DeMarcus (@JayDeMarcus): "Dick Clark. What is there to say… You've done it all, rest in peace…."   Chely Wright (@chelywright): "Rest In Peace, Dick Clark. You were every musician's friend."   Jerrod Niemann(@jrodfromoz): "Ahhh gonna miss Dick Clark. What an Icon."   thompson square (@thompsonsquare): "Thanks Dick Clark for all the wonderful memories from my childhood watching American Bandstand! #RIPDICKCLARK Shawna"  Billy Ray Cyrus (@billyraycyrus): "R. I. P. Dick Clark. Thoughts and prayers with the Clark Family." James Otto (@jamesotto): "RIP Dick Clark!"  Rhonda Adkins (Trace Adkins' wife)  (@RhondaAdkins): "So sad that Dick Clark has passed. One of the most successful music industry professionals ever.New Years Eve won't be the same without him."   Trisha Yearwood (@TYcom): "Sending love and strength to the Dick Clark family. He was not only a legacy in the entertainment industry, but a really nice guy. We miss you. Rest in peace."  SHeDAISY (@shedaisy): "So sad to hear of the passing of Dick Clark. We sat and visited with him in his amazing office in LA. What a legend! He will be missed…"     Chuck Wicks (@chuckwicksmusic):  "May you rest in peace Dick Clark."  Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton): "So proud I had the chance to shake hands with Dick Clark in my lifetime… Great man.."    In your own words Dick, "for now, so long."
