Country legend Merle Haggard, who is scheduled to perform at a sold out show in April at the Clark State Performing Arts Center with Wyatt McCubbin, will remain hospitalized in Macon, Georgia for a few days to recover from pneumonia, according to his people. The 74 year old cancelled a show Tuesday night just minutes before he was to take the stage in Macon. His tour bus was reportedly seen yesterday outside the Georgia Heart Center of The Medical Center of Central Georgia. “He’s in good spirits,” said publicist Tresa Redburn, who talked to him Wednesday morning. “I was surprised he answered the phone, and not a family member.” Tour manager Frank Mull told the Macon Telegraph Haggard has been ill since leaving his home in northern California last week. “I’m glad he got checked out, because he’s a lung cancer survivor,” Redburn said. “It’s always a bit worrisome, but he’s cancer-free.” The Hag has postponed the rest of his tour dates for this month.
