At long last Alan Jackson fans will hear the sound they love so much with the release of his new album, Thirty Miles West, tomorrow. On it, Alan gives his most personal song he's ever recorded. "When I Saw You Leaving (for Nisey)" was written for Alan's wife Denise, now in remission after a recent battle with cancer. "It was the hardest thing I've ever been through," Alan tells the Chicago Tribune about watching his wife go through agonizing cycles of chemo and radiation. "I was taking care of her since she was about 17. I paid for her college and bought her a car before we were ever married. It's almost like I half-raised her. I've always been taking care of her, and (the cancer) was the one thing I couldn't do a thing about. I couldn't help her, other than to just be there with her, and that was really hard. It was just something that life brought us." Read all about it here. While we will get amazing music from the tall blond singer, what we won't get is his infamous mullet hairstyle from back in the day. "My children think I've changed for the better," Alan tells ABC News Radio. "They see those old pictures of me and the long hair and all that mullet-looking thing and they make fun of me now." Whoa!!!

Alan's making the rounds of the talk shows this week, appearing on NBC's Today show and on David Letterman's late-night talk show tomorrow in celebration of his new album. See AJ's tour dates here.

About Me: I should have known I was destined to have a career where all I do is talk when I was in kindergarten at Plattsburg Elementary in the late 60's.
