Have you heard Jason Aldean's new single, "1994" off Night Train yet?  It's a really fun tribute to the great Joe Diffie--all the lyrics are based on his song titles.   That year, Jason was a senior in high school, the OJ trial was in full force and a gallon of gas was just $1.09!!!!     Great American Country tracked down Jason as he took to Twitter to ask for fan pictures from 1994 and called out some of his country friends to do the same.  First, Jason tweeted a picture of himself and called out his buddy Luke Bryan,  “Hey @LukeBryanOnline were ur jeans as tight in #1994 as they are now? I gotta see a pic! Here’s mine. I had a pager!”

So Luke sent this picture from Twitter, “buddy, I’d say they aren’t as tight but they are just as cool. #1994”

Then Jason shouted out to Keith Urban!   “Hey @KeithUrban thanks for all the love on the new song. You’ve always had style. Show us your #1994 look!”  And he did!  Keith was kind enough to reply – with a photo. “I was rockin the oversize thrift store jacket in #1994!!!!!” he tweeted.

Next "victim?"   “I heard @DierksBentley was a big Billy Idol fan around #1994 and he had the look to match! I know the ladies would love to see that, DB!” Jason wrote.     And?  Dierks came through with a photo circa 1994. “bedroom posters pics…embarrassing! ill dig around for the ones of spiked hair and parachute pants.” he tweeted.

“1994” was co written by our buddy Thomas Rhett and Jason tells Great American Country he loved it at first listen.  “I love that this song gets such a reaction from people,” Jason said. “Country music in the mid-’90s was a big influence on my career, and I played all the songs that are referenced in ’94 back in my club days.   Joe Diffie was rocking a sick mullet, and he was hotter than ever…just putting out monster hit after monster hit. It totally takes me back to those days, and it makes me smile every time I hear it.”
