Eric Church Says The Reason He Picked Up Golf Was To Get Out Of Class

Eric Church loves to play golf, but there is a funny story on how he first started hitting the links. In an interview with Greensboro.com, Chief admitted that the only reason he picked up golf was to get out of class!

“I played golf because in my junior and senior years of high school, I realized that if you were a golfer, you got to leave at 10 a.m. to go to matches. You didn’t have to be at school all day, and, well, that’s me right there. So I picked up golf real quick when I realized you got to get out of class.”

I did something similar once. My senior year of high school, I volunteered to work the polls for the 2008 presidential election. I had little (to no) intertest in politics, but once I found out that it would excuse me from school that day, I was one of the first to sign up. What I didn’t realize is that I had to report to the polling station at 5am and didn’t leave until 7pm that night. The average school day was seven hours (8am-3pm). Talk about a backfire!
