SPRINGFIELD — One person is dead and several others were injured after a mass shooting in Springfield late Saturday night.

Springfield officers and medics responded at 10:46 p.m. to the 1000 block of West Rose Street on initial reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a press release from the City of Springfield.
One person, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At least two other people were flown by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Some were taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and Kettering Health Springfield either by personal vehicles or by ambulance.
A Springfield Police dispatch sergeant told News Center 7 that a total of five people were shot.
Details on the victims’ conditions are not available at this time.
News Center 7 obtained several 911 calls placed about this shooting.
One person told dispatchers that she heard around 20 gunshots.
Several people called 911 from the scene of the shooting and told dispatchers they believed at least one person was dead.
Multiple jurisdictions responded to the shooting, including the Springfield Police Division, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wittenberg University Police, and Springfield Fire and Rescue Division.
