For over a decade, the softball tournament has been a staple across part of Clark County.
Jeff Wise, Enon Police Chief, started this fundraiser because of a personal connection to breast cancer.
“We lost my niece to breast cancer, and a year later, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer,” he said.
Wise reached out to local fire, EMS, and other police stations in the area to join. Each year, the event grew.
News Center 7’s Malik Patterson reported that over 400 people showed up to donate over the course of the weekend.
Courtney Wise, the president of the Nonprofit, explained the plan for this year and next.
“Whoever wants to donate, it’s great if they can’t. It’s great to just come out and support us. And even if you don’t spend a dime here,” Wise said. “We incorporated food trucks this year. We’re going to try and put together a touch-a-truck next year.”
Everyone is playing for a chance to win a trophy and have their team engraved on the plaque.
There is also a chance to win the Thin Blue Line award, which is named have former Clark County Sheriff Deputy Matthew Yates.
Yates was shot and killed in the line of duty.
The Blue Line award goes to someone who goes above and beyond for the community.
“Unbelievable honor. We thank the tournament directors and the fellow players, everybody out here. It just means so much,” Rick Hanna said.
The money made at the tournament goes toward the Cancer Foundation.
