Organizers told News Center 7’s Taylor Robertson that the event gets bigger every year.
She said every inch of McIntosh Park was used for the block.
They offered free haircuts, food, and give out backpacks filled with school supplies.
“We help people that’s in need, and you know, people who struggle, you know, we just want to help our community,” said Rainmarie Davis, senior at Dayton Business Tech.
Robertson says Davis was in the New Era Dayton Booth, a local organization whose mission is to eliminate black murder and violence.
“Got a lot of wisdom in this park right now,” said Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims.
He told Robertson that it was good to see the community come together to stop the violence and lend a helping hand.
“I was once homeless myself, and I said, ‘Once I get off the streets, I want to give back to the community,’” said Daryll Dalton.
They also gave out used clothes.
The event ended at 7 p.m.
