As the coronavirus death toll inches toward 100,000 nationwide, The New York Times printed the name of 1,000 people who have died from the virus, covering its entire Sunday front page.
The page design is a rare move to not feature multiple stories or any images or art to bring attention to the loss caused by the pandemic.

The Times also launched a special section "Those We've Lost," which features stories about those who have died from the coronavirus.
There are more than 1.6 million confirmed cases and 96,875 deaths from the coronavirus in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins’ tracking information.
