According to a news release from the Hatfield Police Department, the statue of the beloved green ogre movie character disappeared from its pedestal earlier this week,

Police are asking that whoever took the concrete statue from its Mountain Road location to return it “in the condition you found him,” WFTX-TV reported.

“The dragon sculpture he lives with is frustrated and lonely,” police wrote on Facebook.

This is not the first time that a likeness of a character from the 2001 animated movie has been stolen.

A heavy, 5-foot tall wooden statue of Shrek’s loyal sidekick, Donkey, was pilfered in the United Kingdom in October 2018, the Kent and Sussex Courier reported.

Ogres may be like onions, but Hatfield residents want the Shrek statue returned.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hatfield Police Department at 413-247-0323, WWLP-TV reported.
