Warnings for severe storms have now expired, but the heavy downpours mean possible flash flooding across the area, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs said.
By 8:30 a.m. Monday, all flood advisories were canceled or allowed to expire.
An early evening storm system on Mother's Day triggered a tornado warning in Clark and Champaign counties and severe thunderstorm warnings across the region, knocking out power to some across the area.
A Springfield resident reported spotting what appeared to be a funnel cloud near the intersection of Home Road and North Limestone, but rather had a low cloud base and was "non-rotational," Vrydaghs said.
There were no reports of significant damage across the area on Sunday, according to county dispatchers even though the strong storm produced reports of strong rain with heavy thunder and lighting.
A tree fell into power lines at Deweese and East Rusk roads in Troy, according to the Miami County Sheriff's Office. Residents in Tipp City reported seeing large hail, described as being as large as a golf ball. In Clark County, debris was reported in the roadway in the 4500 block of Troy Road. Elsewhere, residents reported spotting a rainbow in the sky after the storm had left.
Any lingering showers should end early. Most areas should remain dry overnight, with temperatures in the mid-60s.
It will be breezy and warm today, with clouds and sun. Highs will be in the low to mid-80s. An afternoon, isolated shower or storm may develop, Vrydaghs said. Tonight will be mild with scattered clouds and lows in the mid-60s.
On Tuesday, it will become mostly cloudy as a cold front approaches.
"This front will bring showers and thunderstorms later in the day," Vrydaghs said. "Storms are not expected to be severe, but heavy rain and gusty winds are still possible."
Before the arrival of the front, highs will be in the low to mid-80s.
On Wednesday, the cold front may stall near or just south of the area. Another wave of showers and storms are expected during the day. It will be much cooler with temperatures in the 60s.
It will be mostly cloudy on Thursday, with a chance of a few showers and a rumble of thunder. Highs will be in the low 60s.
Friday will be partly sunny, but a passing shower is possible. It will be cool again, with highs in the low to mid-60s.
