Recall alert: Burns prompt recall of more than half a million Black+Decker garment steamers

MIDDLETON, Wis. — Empower Brands on Thursday recalled roughly 518,500 Black+Decker Easy Garment Steamers because the products can expel, spray or leak hot water during use, posing burn risks.

The affected steamers were sold online and in stores at Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and other stores nationwide from June 2021 through September 2022 for between $16 and $23 each.

The recall includes the following models:

Empower Brands has fielded 241 reports to date of hot water expelling from the steamer, including 32 reports of burn injuries, two of which resulted in second-degree burns.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled steamers and contact Empower Brands to receive a free replacement upper assembly for the product.
